Department Of Sociology
Sociology is relatively a new science, as a discipline of academic interest. Sociology is concerned with modern complicated network of social relationship. In order to comprehend modern complicated society like India there is growing necessity to expand the discipline for the smooth functioning of administration. In the year 2016, Sociology 1st introduced as a separate Department in Degree Level of Malkangiri District, Odisha. The Department has 3 nos. of Faculties, 32 nos. of Seats; total students strength is 96 and 2 nos. of class Rooms. The institution comes under Berhampur University and following “State Model Syllabus” for under Graduate Course in Sociology under Choice Based Credit System. The pass out rate of the students is about 90% and 3 students comes under top 10 list of Berhampur University. The syllabus contains 14 nos. of Honours Papers including Project Work in Final Year. The Department also take 2nd Year (3rd & 4th Sem.) General Elective Papers. In the year 2019, 1 st batch of One student comes under top 10 list of Berhampur University and recently (2022), Two students comes under top 10 list. Besides teaching, Department organise weekly seminars, Assay and Debate Competition, Study Tour and Picnic.
